Bill's work as a professional shearer took him around Australia and to various parts of the world. In 1974 he won the Australian Shearer of the Year award and held
the merino sheep-shearing record.
As a Shearing contractor Bill worked with Kelpies & Collies in some of the most fertile and barren places in Australia.
Kelpie & Collie Types
Bill has had a life-long interest in working collies and their lineage. For most of his life he owned and trained some outstanding collies for yard and paddock. His almost forty years on the land, has given him a unique opportunity to observe not only Kelpies but also the many varied collie types in their working environments.
Video Producer
Since 1983, Bill and his wife Kerry have owned and operated Adele Video Production. Originally set up to service the rural industry, today their clients include some of Australia's largest companies, Their documentaries and corporate productions have won numerous National awards.
In 1997 Bill was accredited as a Master Video Producer, for nine years he was the National President of the Australian Video Producers Association of which he
is a life member.
In 2012 Bill and Kerry produced the award winning documentary
"Kelpie The Legend."

The author Bill Robertson has been described, like most people on the land, as a multi-skilled individual, proficient in rural pursuits and most things mechanical.
Bill's final years were spent writing his second book "History of the Border Collie - and their wondrous genetic contributors", which will be released in the future.
